Miracles Abound...

Why A Course in Miracles & The 12 Steps?

When I first picked up A Course in Miracles in 2001, I was very involved in a 12 Step Program. I had already experienced Miracles through the practice of the 12  Steps and experienced many AHA! moments. I was chatting to God in my mind a lot and praying  for help and guidance. I believed there must be an easier way than the long drawn out and painful process I had been practicing before the resulting shifts that eventually occurred. I was determined to heal and know myself, and willing to do whatever it took to accomplish this. This was when A Course in Miracles came into my life.

3 months into reading A Course in Miracles, I first came to hear my Inner Teacher. I was struggling with the concepts as set out in A Course in Miracles and yet determined to somehow get it. I had known *somehow* as soon as I picked up this book and read some of it, that this was *it*; that this was the means I had long been searching for. I intuitively called it 'The Course' from the word go. Because my mind was so full of the concepts and program as set out by The 12 Steps, my Inner Teacher taught me A Course in Miracles oftentimes in 12 Step language.

I have found that the two seam together perfectly, and combine to make a very simple and very clear set of instructions to be used for the practical application of A Course in Miracles. They focus on the prerequisites to experiencing a miracle, for the rest is done not by us. Its focus is on the reversal of our upside down understandings of cause and effect and ends level confusion. If we have been studying A Course in Miracles, and are not experiencing miracles as an immediate shift in perception, resulting in the experience of the Holy Instant, we can be sure we are still caught up in level confusion and seeing the cause as outside of us.

So this set of instructions deals primarily with removing the blocks to experiencing the miracle, the Holy Instant and/or the immediacy of Salvation. We could some this up by making our motto, SERENITY NOW!

This is not designed to be a replacement for A Course in Miracles or for other 12 Step programs. It is designed as an accompaniment. For some it may be helpful, as it has been for me, as it speaks in a language that is very clear and understandable for some. For others it may not be and that is perfectly ok too. I am learning more and more that there are different strokes for different folks and yet all in all, none of it matters. "All roads  lead to Mecca" as the saying goes, and despite the seeming differences, we are all in this together and we are all healing as ONE. And as A Course in Miracles tells us, The Outcome is as sure as God.

"Where is the gap BETWEEN the waves, when they have joined, and covered up the space which seemed to keep them separate for a little while? Where is the grounds for sickness when the minds have joined to close the gap BETWEEN them, where the seeds of sickness seemed to grow? God builds the bridge, but only in the space left clean and vacant by the miracle. The weeds of sickness and the shame of sin He CANNOT bridge, for He cannot destroy the alien will that He created not. Let its effects be gone, and clutch them not with eager hands, to keep them for yourself. The miracle will brush them all aside, and thus make room for Him Who wills to come, and bridge His Son's returning to Himself."

And Acceptance Is...

Miracles Abound!

And acceptance is the answer to all my problems today. When I am disturbed, it is because I find some person, place, thing or situation - some fact of my life - unacceptable to me, and I can find no serenity until I accept that person, place, thing or situation as being exactly the way it is supposed to be at this moment.

Nothing, absolutely nothing happens in God's world by mistake.  I need to concentrate not so much on what needs to be changed in the world as on what needs to be changed in me and in my attitudes.
